FTSE250 UK Company
Background:
- We were mandated to search for a first-time appointment of a General Counsel for a FTSE250 company which had a relatively recently appointed CEO. There was a Company Secretary already in place and the plan was for the new General Counsel to ultimately assume the Company Secretary role also.
Strategy:
- Having advised the client on the title and positioning of the role within the company, the client was looking to move quickly and so we moved straight to shortlist. We producing a shortlist of candidates within 3 weeks of the search being signed off and the CEO and HR Director then commenced candidate interviews.
Challenges:
- As there was already a company secretary in place and this was not a combined General Counsel and Company Secretary role, the role was not of interest to all target candidates. However, others were happy to look at the full potential of the role.
Outcome:
- The preferred candidate, who was immediately, available accepted the role within 10 weeks of the search starting.
